Several tonguesole species (Cynoglossus spp.) are captured in Nigerian waters. C. senegalensis, C. cuneata, C. monodi, C. browni and C. canariensis. A multispecies stock assessment was tried in 2011. Results were not considered sufficiently robust to  (FAO 2015), because the model fit was not satisfactory. As a precautionary approach, the Working Group recommended a reduction in fishing efforts due to high effort in 2010, and that the fisheries should be closely monitored.
