John dory catches are reported uncommonly in Rhode Island and Massachusetts states, typically as incidental species in trawl fisheries (FishChoice.com n.d.). No fisheries management regulations are in place for John dory in the Greater Northeast region (NOAA Fisheries 2017) and there is no mention within Rhode Island fisheries management (Marine Fisheries Regulations- Rhode Island -Department of Environmental Management n.d.)(State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations Department of Environmental Management 2017).
