The stock structure is not well understood for haddock in this area (TRAC 2022).  As a result, there are two assessment units, an Eastern Georges Bank unit, which is co-managed by the US and Canada, and a US assessment unit which covers the entire area including the Eastern portion. While there appears to be a consensus that there is one common stock unit, there is disagreement between US and Canadian scientists about the center of that Unit, and the modeling framework that is most appropriate (NOAA 2022).

As a result, no progress was made in the last benchmark assessment at two separate units with two separate management regimes remain in place (NOAA 2022).
