Gulf weakfish is endemic to the northern Gulf of California, representing an important fishery. The population is assessed regularly by INAPESCA and some measures are applied accordingly (Chao 2007)(Gherard et al. 2013)(DOF 2018)(Mendivil-Mendoza et al. 2018)(Soto et al. 2019).
Two related fisheries profiles have recently been created: Bigeye croaker—Upper Gulf of California and Weakfishes nei—Upper Gulf of California.
