Grey mackerels (Scomberomorus semifasciatus) are found in northern Australia from Shark Bay, Western Australia, to northern New South Wales. At least five Grey mackerel biological stocks have been identified (Welch et al. 2009):
- Gulf of Carpentaria stock (this profile)
- North West Northern Territory stock
- North East Queensland stock
- South East Qeensland stock
- Western Australia stock
Management of these stocks is conducted by the Australian States Fisheries (FRDC 2023).
