Bering cisco, Lauretta whitefish
Bering cisco (Coregonus laurettae) are anadromous salmonids with only three known spawning populations located in the Yukon, Kuskokwim, and Susitna river drainages, all in Alaska (Padilla et al. 2015). Bering cisco is known to be an important subsistence fish species for coastal and lower river communities located within drainages of the Yukon and Kuskokwim Rivers and a commercial fishery in the lower Yukon River estuary targeting Bering cisco exists since 2005 (ADFG 2016).
