Ray’s bream (Brama australis) is a highly migratory marine pelagic-neriticspecies found in a depth range between 15 - 120 m, and with a wide distribution, being found throughout the subtropical to sub-antarctic waters across the whole South Pacific between New Zealand and Chile.
Due to its extensive migrations, Southern rays bream spreads all along the South Pacific, while limited by subtropical waters (IFOP, 2002). Stock structure is not known. This profile focuses on the Chilean artisanal fleet, which operates mostly with longline and gillnets (SUBPESCA, 2015).
