SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)
Pollachius virens
SPECIES NAME(s)
Saithe
Saithe in the northeast Atlantic has traditionally been divided into four management units or stocks, one of them being the Icelandic stock. A genetic analysis has determined that there is a lot of connectivity in the area and it could be a single population. Larval dispersal studies found that the Icelandic stock has a high rate of larval retention, but it is still affected by the genetic mixing of the whole region. Despite that, the area is still being managed as 4 separate units (Myksvoll et al. 2021)
