There is some uncertainty associated with the stock structure for this area. Saithe are assessed and managed in the US as one unit (the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank) while those in Canadian waters are assessed and managed separately by Canada, in two distinct components (NDWG 2010)(DFO 2019). While mixing is thought to occur between the two groups, there are currently no plans for joint assessment and management.
