Flathead sole
Flathead sole are managed separately in the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands and the Gulf of Alaska by the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NOAA, 2020). This stock is assessed on a biennial basis due to it being historically lightly exploited. A partial assessment was released in 2022, a full assessment was released in 2020 and 2024 (Kapur and Cronin-Fine, 2024).
Recent results have confirmed that flathead sole is genetically distinct from Bering flounder and yellowfin sole (Kapur and Cronin-Fine, 2024).
