Squalid callista is one of the most economically important mollusks in the Gulf of California. Its distribution has been reported from Laguna Guerrero Negro or Estero San Jose in Baja California, Mexico to Macora, Peru. It is found in banks with other clam species, such as golden callista and Ponderous dosinia. No information regarding the stock structure in the Gulf of California has been found (DOF 2018).
