Shorthead anchovy (Encrasicholina heteroloba) is an important component of the small pelagics fisheries in several Indo-Pacific countries including Thailand. This marine pelagic presents a widespread distribution within the Indian and Pacific oceans and usually is found in large schools inshore. The reproductive peak occurs from October until January concurrently with the monsoon season (Whitehead et al. 1988).
