The giant red shrimp is present a wide distribution in all oceans, being most common in the Mediterranean, the south-east of Africa, in the Gulf of Mexico, in Australia and in New Zealand. This species can be found between 250 m and 1300 m depth. Fernández et al. 2013, found the first evidence of genetic structure of giant red shrimp but the same authors consider that further research is needed.
