The FIP held a workshop to address current status and challenges of the skipjack fishery, engaging participants to develop a Responsible Fishing Code for Puerto Angel.

A study was conducted on the seasonal variations in size and weight of black skipjack from October 2022 to July 2024. The study reveals that skipjack caught by the artisanal fleet in Puerto Ángel show temporal fluctuations, with an average length of 46.8 cm and weight of 1.7 kg, while larger sizes coincide with certain months, possibly influenced by spawning periods and environmental conditions.

The monthly database of catches and biological fishery data for the skipjack fishery continues to be updated. Data through August 2024 has been made available.

The FIP has produced a report that outlines efforts to improve the management and production of the skipjack fishery in the Punta Sacrificio Cooperative in Oaxaca, Mexico. It covers challenges like economic mismanagement, proposing solutions such as sustainable fishing practices, enhanced processing capabilities and quality control to increase the cooperative's market visibility and promote ethical business standards.

Several biological fishery studies have been carried out that include information on the description and evaluation of the skipjack fishery in Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca; the report available includes information on size limits.

The monthly skipjack catch database was updated with data from both the cooperative participating in the FIP and the state catch. This update enabled an analysis of the skipjack catch's year-to-year variations off the coast of Oaxaca and an evaluation of the fishery.

Training seminars and workshops were held for fishermen to help them digitize their catch data using the newly installed NADIR system.
