The stakeholders of this FIP attended the pre-meeting discussion organized by the Fisheries Agency of Taiwan on August 10 in preparation for the 102nd IATTC Annual Meeting. They expressed support for the proposed measures regarding South Pacific albacore tuna.

The FIP held their first skipper training session on the best practices for safe handling and release of ETP species. 

A summary of stock assessment results for Pacific saury, EPO bigeye tuna and south Pacific blue sharks has been made available; the summary notes that the Southwest Pacific blue shark stock does not appear to be overfished according to the 2022 assessment.

The WCPFC Pacific albacore harvest control rules workshop was held in February 2023

The FIP along with the Taiwan Fisheries Agency conducted an EMS pilot program; three fishing vessels were equipped with electronic observer equipment

FIP has participated in several meetings over the summer of 2022 including the 100th session of the IATTC; management measures for the South Pacific albacore were discussed

OFDC conducted a skipper training to improve logbook data collection and reporting

Meeting was held to introduce the importance of the development of the harvest strategy 

The FIP has published an ETP bycatch mitigation policy.
