The second stakeholder meeting for Central Java shrimp fishery was held in Semarang, continuing discussions from South Kalimantan on fishery management. Participants agreed to prioritize data collection, form a Pokja, and establish a community surveillance group (POKMASWAS) to enhance fishery compliance and advance the FMP discussions.

In collaboration with BBPI Semarang, the FIP conducted the second "Fishers Competency Certification" (Sertifikasi Kecakapan Nelayan). This certification ensures that fishers comply with regulations required for renewing their vessel registrations;  a total of 145 fishers were trained.

The FIP conducted a review of the logbook data collected through the Perahu App, with ongoing discussions to integrate this data with the national e-logbook system. Observations show that fishers are aware of ETP species, such as horseshoe crabs, and release them appropriately, recording the interactions in the Perahu App logbook

A meeting was held with UNDIP undergraduate students, the FIP coordinator, and KUB Menco fishermen to support student research on fishermen's socio-economic conditions and to socialize ETP and HRSR issues. The meeting resulted in interviews about socio-economic aspects (such as debt and fishing capital), education on HRSR and ETP, and fishermen expressing a desire for comprehensive job insurance in the future.

Students from UNDIP have conducted research on the potential of white shrimp resources in Demak; the outline of the research plan has been made available. 

The FIP has conducted a training for 100 fishermen to obtain a 'fisher competency certificate', necessary for regulatory compliance and vessel registration renewal; trainings will continue until all KUB fishermen are certified.

The FIP has expanded data collection efforts by training additional enumerators to use the Perahu Data App, which will be used as a logbook. The app allows fishermen to record catch data, including main catch, bycatch, and ETP species.

The FIP signed a MoU with PT. Sahabat Laut Lestar to develop an app for data collection called Perahu Data. 

FIP meeting held with MMAF to refocus on the coordination and consolidation among FIP Leads in Indonesia; the FIP discussed their plans to utilize Perahu data app for data collection. 

The new regulation 11/2023 Penangkapan Ikan Terukur has been issued by the Indonesian government to establish a quota-based fishery system;  the regulation will divide the country's waters into zones encompassing different Fisheries Management Areas (FMAs).

FIP held a meeting with UNDIP and We Care Movement Indonesia at the beginning of the year to discuss recent FIP activities and updates.

FIP coordination meetings were held by PSDI in late 2021; FIP action plan was shared along with the government support required. 

Simple analysis on voluntary logbook 2018-2020 data undertaken

Increase to PI 2.3.3; Three-year audit conducted. The FIP has introduced the app ‘Perahu Data’ to collect data on ETP interactions from fishers and enumerators. This app provides information for identifying ETP species and ultimately developing a management strategy.

Increase to PI 3.2.2; Three-year audit conducted. The Indonesian government’s decision to introduce the quota system ‘Penangkapan Ikan Terukur’ and the e-logbook system ‘Perahu Data’ demonstrates how the management system responds to scientific research and makes decisions accordingly.

Increase to MSC PI 2.4.3; Habitat and sediment information has become available and there is no VME in the area. The habitat does not contain reef systems, or seagrass beds and the sediment is comprised primarily of silt and mud therefore it's unlikely the fishery causes major impact/ harm to the habitat. 

The FIP has begun installing a Pelagic Data System (PDS) on the vessels of all KUBs

Permen 33/2021 established; a simplified logbook is now mandatory for vessels under 5GT.
