The position statements were aligned with the requests of the ISSF including science-based limits on FAD deployments/sets, FAD markings, tracking, and requiring biodegradable materials used in FAD constructions. 1 August 2022 — Analysis conducted on catch composition using observer data; the analysis estimates that bycatch accounted for 1.4% of the total catch 1 August 2022 — The FIP has sent an introductory letter to the SFA, requesting their support for the FIP and principle 3 actions. 1 May 2022 — The FIP submitted a position statement ahead of the IOTC in May, advocating for improvements in management for all tuna species. 30 September 2021 — Photographs of FADs in use in the fishery have been supplied to KT by Dongwon Industries. 1 September 2021 — Ecological trap hypothesis report produced that highlights the risk that FADs impose on species behavior and ecological factors 1 August 2021 — Report produced on bycatch and catch composition using observer data gathered and analysed for the fleet from 2016 to 2019
4.
