The BFAR multisectoral review and update of the National Tuna Management Plan took place in May 2024; the review and consultation aimed to evaluate the Plan's progress and effectiveness over the past four years.

CMM 2023-01 has been published which outlines interim harvest strategy objectives for yellowfin, bigeye and skipjack tuna and new FAD management guidelines. All purse seine vessels are now prohibited from deploying, servicing or setting FADs on an annual basis between July- mid August. 

The FIP's final ISSF compliance report was issued, detailing activities from 2022; the report highlights that General Tuna was fully compliant with conservation measures for observer coverage. 

General Tuna attended the WCPFC in Vietnam meeting from 27 Nov - 03 Dec 2022

General Tuna is in full compliance with ISSF CMM's related to the use of non-entangling FADs, FAD management policies and observer coverage.

BFAR has initiated a review of the existing FAD design to determine whether or not the FADs can be improved to be sturdier and prevent from future detachment.

BFAR has launched an interim CNFIDP management strategy while awaiting WCPFC to adopt measures for the skipjack and yellowfin harvest strategies 

General Tuna attended a meeting to launch the Comprehensive National Fisheries Industry Development Plan on February 22, 2022.

General Tuna has reached out to BFAR to obtain a recent enforcement report to ensure the fleet is in compliance with regional and international laws and policies.

General Tuna Corporation has conducted audits on its compliance with ISSF Conservation Measures. In addition, they have provided supplier NE with the FAD policy for vessels not on the ISSF ProActive Vessel Registry (PVR).
