Catch data from August- December 2024 has been made available.

The FIP has conducted a study on bycatch in the fishery. The study found that there is a bycatch rate of 65.04% catching species such as the bluespotted stingray, giant trevally and the whiptail threadfin bream.

The FIP has developed a research proposal to analyze shark bycatch within the fishery; the study aims to assess bycatch composition and suggest sustainable management practices to preserve shark populations.

ADI recently participated in a talk show at a national exhibition event. During the talk show, ADI highlighted its role in engaging fish export businesses within FMAs 711 and 715. By expanding its membership, ADI aims to raise awareness among industry stakeholders about the importance of fisheries sustainability, particularly by promoting greater compliance with sustainable practices.

The FIP held an event at the Brondong Nusantara Fisheries Port in East Java to promote the use of the fisheries e-logbook, attended by 30 participants, including representatives from government agencies, fishing communities, and ship owners. 

2024 stock assessment for the Malabar grouper has been published. 

The FIP hosts regular informal meetings to keep up with the registration of vessels; a recent informal meeting was conducted in Barrang Lompo Island and Galesong. 

The FIP sponsored the International Seminar on Demersal and Crustacean Fisheries Management; researchers at the meeting presented catch data and information during the plenary session.

The FIP continues to regularly report catch data; catch data from the 2023 season has been made available.

An overview of the catch data from the fishery recorded between 2020-2022 has been made available in a report

The paper (Hapsari et al. 2023) has been published which identifies the current SPR as over-exploited. The FIP will work to implement a stock recovery strategy to reduce effort and maintain a trade limit value larger than the size of the first gonad maturity (Lm) and the size of the mature fish.

The snapper-grouper harvest strategy underwent public consultation in the fall of 2022; the strategy is pending implementation

ADI has been actively attending the public consultation on the harvest strategy for snapper and grouper;  ADI provided inputs on the proposed minimum catch size of snapper and grouper

FIP has conducted a preliminary analysis based on catch data; the length frequency distribution showed a slightly better performance compared to the existing benchmark.

ADI continues to collect data on snapper and grouper individuals; the data is analyzed and presented to government entities when meeting opportunities arise

A draft protocol is being developed for logbook use and training for the snapper grouper fishery.

Fishing vessel inspection conducted and reported 

ADI is preparing the draft NDA which will be a code of conduct in data management among industries within ADI and among stakeholders for the sake of data protection

ADI is working with researches to assist in a doctoral dissertation to inform and identify a stock rebulding plan

A regular biological sampling has been performing inregrated into BRPL-based ADI catch data base. 

ADI has conducted a strategic planning session; both e-logbook training and meeting will be implemented depending of budget availability.

The FIP continues to be involved with the ATSEA project; attended EAFM training

ADI has participated in Public Cosultation on the Fishery Management Plan for Snapper and Grouper in Indonesia (4 September 2020) of which the FMP is legal basis in determining the Harvest Control Rule (HCR) prior to constructing Harvest Strategy (HS)

ADI attended and contributed in the discussion of the development of Harvest Strategy of Snapper Grouper in WPP 713 conducted on 3 September 2020

Of 14 ADI's companies, at least 2 of them have been conducting length measurement and maturity sampling at their processing unit since 2020

Decree No. 523 / 8 / iI / DKP issued establishing the Sustainable Demersal Fisheries Management Committee for 2024–2029. This initiative aims to enhance sustainable fisheries management, strengthen the global competitiveness of high-value demersal fish commodities, and ensure the long-term preservation of marine resources in South Sulawesi.
