3. FIP Implementation	Jul 24	FIP activities undertaken 3 July 2024 — The FIP held a meeting to review the progress of the hake fishery and discussed steps to transition towards certification by 2026. Key agreements proposed establishing intergovernmental collaborations for MSC certification funding, enhancing monitoring processes both on board and at processing plants, and updating capture control rules for sustainable fishing practices. 2 July 2024 — The July 2024 meeting of the Hake Technical Group discussed updates on the Gulf of California hake fishery and focused on refining capture control rules to ensure sustainable management. Participants agreed to review the FMP and scheduled a follow-up virtual meeting to propose improvements, emphasizing collaboration with fishers and stakeholders for effective resource management. 5 April 2024 — The FIP held a meeting to discuss the potential of the Gulf of California hake fishery to become a model for sustainable industrial fishing, identifying areas for improvement like catch control and environmental governance; the group emphasized the importance of stakeholder involvement in the FMP, with plans for a third technical meeting. 26 January 2024 — A letter was sent to the President of the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission requesting the convening of a regular session of the Hake Resource Management Advisory Committee. 7 November 2023 — The FIP held a meeting to renew representatives of the Hake Working Group.
