The FIP conducted a review of the e-logbook and observer program; the results indicated that almost 100% of the FIP member vessels have submitted catch data using the e-logbook.

A draft code of conduct, including measures to mitigate shark impacts, is being circulated to FIP vessel captains.

A list of the expected number of observers on FIP vessels in 2024 has been made available. The FIP plans to deploy 50 observers across 13 vessels.

The FIP held a meeting to discuss ongoing FIP activities. At the meeting, it was announced that a member with five vessels has decided to withdraw from the FIP,

The FIP participated in a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the e-logbook for both fishing and collecting/carrier vessels.

In 2023, there were 18 observers on board fishing vessels.

MMAF held a meeting with stakeholders to discuss quota-based fisheries and the implementation of Regulation 11/2023. 

The FIP attended the Working Party on Billfish (WPB) meeting to present a paper on billfish which includes the standardized CPUE of swordfish from Indonesian tuna longline fleets in the northeastern Indian Ocean.

Regulation Number 11/2023 issued, which establishes a quota-based fishery. Three types of quotas will be established: Industrial, "Nelayan Lokal" (local fishers), and non-commercial (recreational and research-based). 

The FIP participated in a technical coordination meeting that addressed several subjects, such as logbook updates, data flow verification, and validation. A key highlight of the meeting was stressing the importance of recording Ecologically Related Species (ERS) in the logbook.

The Directorate of Fish Resource Management organized a Technical Coordination Meeting for observers on fishing and fish carrier vessels. At the meeting, Indonesia's 100% observer coverage for transshipment monitoring at sea in 2022 was highlighted. Presently, there are 9 observers on 9 member vessels of the FIP.

FIP participants joined the national cross-stakeholder Forum Group Discussion to address the status, conditions and challenges of tuna fisheries management in the Indian Ocean region.

FIP participants attended a meeting on the implementation of harvest strategies organized by MMAF.

Using observer data from the 2022 season, a draft overview report on the state of bycatch incidents, including ETP species, was produced. 

There was a total 22 observers onboard 22 member vessels of the FIP in 2022.

The office of the Coastal and Marine Resource Management Unit of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (Badan Pengelola Sumberdaya Pesisir and Laut Denpasar - BPSPL),  provided technical advice to FIP members on the new policies of holding and transporting sharks/rays onboard. 

A proposal, Resolution 22/xx revised, was submitted but not accepted at the 2022 IOTC Commission meeting. This proposal addressed the following: outside of the at-sea transshipment monitoring program, all transshipment operations of tuna and tuna-like species and sharks caught in association with tuna and tuna-like fisheries shall take place in port.

FIP sent letter to PDSI requesting onboard observer reports. 

The FIP continues to support NTMP implementation through improving compliance; compliance measures presented at May 2022 IOTC meeting

In April 25 - 27, FIP leader and secretariat participated in the meetings to review observer reports to be submitted to the  IOTC meeting.

Indonesia Longline Tuna FIP participants provided inputs to contribute to the compliance gap analysis to WCPFC Conservation Management Measures (CMMs) across Indonesian tuna fisheries, led by IPNLF.
