The FIP has sent written information request letters to ARAP and INPESCA on behalf of Panamanian- and Nicaraguan-flagged vessels. The letters request specific evidence or information regarding current management practices, as well as monitoring, control, surveillance, compliance, and enforcement measures implemented by these authorities.

The FIP has produced an outline of a FAD research project aimed at incorporating non-entangling and biodegradable FADs to improve sustainable fishing practices. It details three project phases: analyzing current tuna capture methods, conducting feasibility studies for non-entangling and biodegradable FADs, and testing their performance. 

The FIP analyzed observer data provided by FIP vessels; the data demonstrated that FADs constitute 55% of total sets, but lack information information on FAD type. The report also revealed minimal ETP catch. 

The FIP reached out to the IATTC, ARAP, and INAPESCA with letters seeking observer data for vessels included in the FIP.
