EM installation remains underway; 13 out of 54 vessels remain that have not had EM installed yet.

The FIP has combined data on target, primary, secondary and ETP species into one analysis.

The FIP is engaging with SharkGuard in an effort to participate in a pilot study to reduce shark interactions through SharkGuard technology.

The FIP has sent advocacy letters to all flag states ahead of the 2023 WCPFC meeting.

The FIP conducted a visit to a vessel within the FIP to carry out the FIP audit and provide skipper training to the skipper and the officers aboard the vessel.

The FIP is actively progressing with the implementation of EM onboard vessels. Currently, 38 vessels have EM installed.

The FIP met with the TFA (Taiwanese Fishery Authority) and the OFDC (Overseas Fisheries Development Council) to discuss observer data collection and ongoing progress related to P3 issues.

The FIP held crew training workshop on skipper best practices in late 2022; 22 skippers attended the workshop. 

The FIP sent an advocacy letter to the flag states ahead of the 2022 WCPFC 19th regular session. 

FIP is participating in TNC's bulk procurement program;  EM systems are in the process of being installed across the fleet. 

FIP held a meeting with TFA to discuss jurisdiction partnership opportunities; information on sanctions and infringements recorded for 2021/ 2022 were shared at the meeting

A waste management plan is in place and has been implemented in the fishery, with 28 vessels in total from LTFV.

Meetings were held with Taiwan agent companies by KT to explain the FIP and understand current practices.

Observer data from 2019 has been received for the vessels fishing in FSM by the National Oceanic Resources Marine Authority (NORMA).

Commonly encountered species posters have been created to aid in species IDing. 

Signed letters have been sent to the observer provider to obtain human observer data.

Review of informaton highlights that Liacheng has a robust data monitoring and shark ban in place which is being implemented. 

An introductory letter has been drafted and sent to flag states & a spreadsheet detailing the gaps has been created.

Continued alignment between groups and stakeholders are underway

Increase to PI 2.3.3;  observer data provided in early 2022 is adequate enough to estimate the UoA and associated enhancement-related mortality on ETP species.

Increase to PI 2.2.1. & 2.3.1; Based on observer data obtained by the FIP, an updated analysis of the impact of the fishery on ETP species was conducted.
