The FIP conducted visits to several communities in the San Cosme-Punta Coyote Corridor, where structured meetings with small groups were held to gather their views on the development of local fisheries. The insights from five groups, including men, women, youth, and families, were collected through open-ended questions; the data will be analyzed to inform management objectives and strategies, with additional community engagement planned.

The red snapper stock assessment was completed and peer reviewed. Biological parameters were re-adjusted, with particular emphasis on length at first maturity (L50)

A technical meeting was held to review the results of the FishPath tool and the stock assessment of red snapper workshop. The meeting covered stock synthesis results, standardizing CPUE for leopard grouper using a Delta-Lognormal approach and discussing management measures such as size limits and effort restrictions for species lacking reference points, with ongoing efforts to socialize management options.

The FIP held a meeting with CICIMAR researchers to discuss carrying out biological studies for cochito and potentially expanding the project to include additional species like goat horse mackerel and red snapper. A subsequent meeting was took place to outline the next steps. 

The FIP attended the Fishpath workshop in April 2024; draft management strategies were developed at the workshop for indicator species.

The FIP has produced a draft harvest strategy for the multispecies fishery in San Cosme-Punta Coyote, focusing on monitoring, data analysis, and targeted regulations to maintain fish stocks and ecosystem health. Challenges highlighted in the strategy include limited enforcement capacity and data quality, with adaptive measures needed to ensure long-term sustainability.

The 7th Workshop for Community Fisheries Technicians took place in La Paz, where technical monitors were trained on handling and interactions with ETP species. They learned about the differences between threatened, protected, and endangered species and received educational materials listing these species in the region. Additionally, they were given an introductory training on a trial version of a digital app for data collection.

As part of the 7th workshop (January 2024), for fisheries technicians, an introduction on fisheries management tools was given to community members and technical monitors. The concepts about what management tools are with examples in Mexico and dynamics to reinforce learning were presented

A meeting was conducted with the FIP technical group to explore the viability of using digital platforms for fishing data collection; Survey 123 and NADIR were suggested as platform options and a pilot survey using the Survey 123 application was conducted and discussed.

The FIP continues to advance in developing a stock assessment using stock synthesis to evaluate the fishery's current state, fishing intensity, management reference points, and future steps.

An introductory workshop on fishing concessions was conducted for the Islote de Agua Verde and Magdalena Bay cooperative societies.

The field protocol for obtaining biological samples has been updated

The working group has begun to apply the FishPath tool to better support management strengths and identify weaknesses
