During the 14th meeting of the IATTC Scientific Committee, a recommendation was made for the Commission to evaluate the mahi-mahi stock. 

The 1st meeting of the Permanent Working Group on Ecosystem and Bycatch was held at the IATTC; the FIP attended the meeting and presented the best practices training project. 

The FIP has trained 422 fishers in Costa Rica along with 21 officers on best practices for handling and releasing incidental catch.

The study "Genomic characterization of populations of dorado (Coryphaena hippurus) in the eastern Pacific Ocean" was presented at the 13th SAC Meeting; the genetic results will set the baseline to clarify the unit exploited by the Costa Rican fleet.

The 11th working group on bycatch was held in the spring of 2022; the group discussed drafting recommendations for regional EPO measures

The research project 'Genomic characterization of the populations of dorado in the Eastern Pacific Ocean' has been expanded to Ecuador and Peru and has now been completed. 

INCOPESCA is holding training sessions regarding implementing a training roadmap to improve data collection within three existing logbooks

The INCOPESCA database has been modified and the variable gear has been added to the database to include the green stick data 

INCOPESCA attended the 12th SAC meeting and the 97th IATTC to promote the development of studies that contribute to having better information on the dorado resource in the EPO.

Increase to 3.2.3; The Three-Year Audit has been published. The enforcement system for the large pelagic fishery has substantially improved and there is now a sufficient monitoring, control and surveillance system in place.

A data collection system is in place for the FIP and the UoA has implemented actions to improve information collection on ETP species and key elements of the ecosystem. There is sufficient data available to assess the impact of the UoA on main secondary species.

Increase to PI 2.1.3; The Three-Year Audit has been published. The FIP has been registering greenstick captures since 2020 and there is sufficient data available to assess the impact of the UoA on main primary species.

Increase to PI 1.2.3; The Three-Year Audit has been published. There is sufficient data on stock structure, stock productivity, fleet composition to support a harvest strategy.

The proposal "Reducing the bycatch-related impact on leatherback and other sea turtle species of the artisanal fisheries in the Pacific of Costa Rica and Panama" which was submitted by SUBMON and EcoPacific+, in coordination with INCOPESCA and the National Longline Sector, has been approved by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF).

Increase to PI 1.1.1; The Three-Year Audit has been published and has determined that yellowfin, swordfish & mahi populations are not being overfished.
