FIP Implementation	Sep 24	FIP activities undertaken 26 September 2024 — A meeting was held by the Federal Fisheries Council (CFP) where the group discussed fishery quotas for species like hake and black hake, shrimp fishing regulations, and area closures due to high juvenile presence and bycatch. Following reports of depleted shrimp concentrations and high reproductive activity among females, all shrimp fishing in national waters was prohibited from September 28, 2024, onward. 29 August 2024 — A meeting was held by the Federal Fisheries Council (CFP) where the group discussed decisions on fishery quota adjustments, shrimp fishing restrictions, and management plans for king crab and Patagonian scallop fisheries. 27 March 2024 — The FIP conducted an analysis of data collected through the onboard observer program for the 2023 fishing season; a preliminary report has been made available. 20 March 2024 — CeDePesca requested a peer review from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) on the red shrimp assessment methodology. The review results, highlighted positive aspects and suggested improvements, marking the first peer review of this methodology. 1 March 2024 — A report on compliance with the FIP's environmental code of conduct has been made available; no observed breaches of regulations were reported in the 2023 season. 28 November 2023 — The General Audit Office of the Nation has approved a proposal to carry out a second audit of the shrimp management system. 27 July 2023 — The FIP attended the red shrimp follow-up commission meeting and participated in discussions surrounding landings and foreign trade statistics, the biological situation of the prawn fishery and hake bycatch within the fishery. 11 May 2023 — CeDePesca has signed an agreement with INIDEP in an effort to collaborate on monitoring tasks within INIDEP's onboard observer program. 1 May 2023 — The FIP conducted a CSA and the results of the analysis for habitats indicated there is medium risk, so it's not considered necessary to promote additional management measures. 29 January 2023 — The FIP held a meeting to discuss video camera monitoring onboard vessels; trials remain ongoing. 1 December 2022 — An observer data report has been published for the 2022 onboard observer season 29 August 2022 — The FIP participated in the 'Work Commission to Strengthen Bycatch Reduction Measures in Fisheries' workshop; discussions focused on coordinating actions to advance projects that improve selectivity.
